Happy Retirement!

Thanks for dedicating so many of your summers to Windwood. Your leadership will be missed. Best of luck!

A great memory The Bihl’s have is you testing Jackson to be able to go to the pool by himself. You are a good teacher and role model. Thank you for keeping all of our kiddos safe at the pool and for being a great director so families could enjoy their summers there. Best wishes for a relaxing retirement 🎉👏🥳

Mr. Beck, Coach Beck

I thank you greatly for the multitude of opportunities you have given me with swimming, and a place of work. You will be missed immensely by my family and I. You have had one of the biggest impacts in my life, you always taught me new ways to fix something, or clean up a spill, and always were there when I would need help or didn't know how to do something. As well as when I can't find a tool around the pool your saying "Did you look, or did you Search" will stick with me forever. I enjoyed coming to work when you were managing because it usually ment there was something for me to fix, or a lesson for me to learn. I hope you continue coaching through my senior year.

Congratulations, Dennis! We are so happy for you, but, wow, Windwood is going to miss you! We appreciate your dedication and work and care for our community - you have made so much fun for our families possible every summer! Enjoy your next chapter and come back and visit. You will be missed:)

Dennis,

Thank you, thank you, thank you for being our pool manager, our son’s teacher, and most importantly our friend for so many years. The pool will not be the same without you there. We will miss you greatly but wish you much happiness in your retirement!

Best wishes!

The Reedys

As evidenced by Corinne’s comments, I’ll always be grateful for the values you helped to instill and reinforce for our girls. I’m even grateful you convinced me all those weekends at swim meets would be worth it if Corinne and Sarah Anne pursued year round swimming. You gave several great reasons but my favorite was “They’ll be too tired to get into much trouble.” For the most part, you were right on every point. 😉

Enjoy your well earned retirement Dennis!!

How will we ever replace you?!! Those “looks of death” at the rowdy kids, the stern whistle blow, the many cruises around the pool deck to check on members and the guards. The dreaded fecal incident announcements. The high standards for guards and guests.

Dennis you are a legend! Thank you for your dedication and leadership to our humble community pool and tennis club

Bob and Maria Lambert

Thank you, Dennis, for 33 years at the helm at Windwood. Our sons and now our granddaughters have made great memories over those years and we’ve loved our pool time with friends, especially each Labor Day listening to your closing day play list. As a tennis/pickleball player, thanks for your attention to the courts, too.

Best wishes on your retirement!

Joanne Chappell

Thanks so much for keeping us SAFE at Windwood. You were the best lifeguard trainer I have ever had. My claim to fame is dragging you off the bottom of the pool during my Red Cross Lifeguard Class! And always remember, there is room for you on the tennis and pickleball courts! Love-Love Celina Woods and family

Congratulations Dennis on your well deserved retirement! Thank you for all the years you have lead the staff of the pool, and thank you for creating a safe environment for families. My kids have loved working at the pool. We will truly miss you!

The Runkle Family

Congratulations, Dennis, on your decision to retire. You have set the standard for excellence at Windwood which did not go unnoticed. Way to “Make Your Mark”. May your future summer’s be spent in the sun, near water with maybe a little less stress.

Congrats Dennis! From being a kid and spending every summer day at Windwood, to working as a teen, so many of my favorite memories have Windwood at the center. You made sure we were safe, held us accountable, taught us to be responsible, and made sure we had fun. Thank you for investing in us - spending so much time around the pool shaped who I am today. Enjoy every second of retired life!

Congratulations on your retirement!! You were by far the best boss I ever had!! Thanks for all the years you gave to making the pool safe!

Your favorite speed,

Maggie

Dennis-

Happy Retirement!!! Thank you for being one of the best “bosses” I ever had and for instilling such a good and strong work ethic in me! Working at the pool was one of the most fun jobs I had and started me on the right foot going into the workforce later in life and growing up! It was a pleasure and honor to get to work for you and being a member of the pool! Some of my fondest childhood and early adulthood memories stem from the pool and the amazing people and experiences I got to know and be a part of. All which wouldnt have been possible without the culture and environment you put into place for all of us. Enjoy retirement! Hope to see you around soon!

Abby “Speed” Mehn

Thank you for your unwavering support of your staff. You are a caring mentor and have had a positive influence in the development of the youth in our community. We're grateful our daughter had such a positive role model.

They say that no one is irreplaceable, but you come very close. We enjoyed our many conversations at the pool and look forward to many more. We wish you the very best!

Your dedication to safety was something I heard about early-on after we joined the pool. It gave me confidence as a parent of two kids. I appreciated your smiles and jovial attitude- Thank you so much for all the work you have given to the swim club to keep it as a fun, safe space for us all. Thank you! -The Jellisons

Congratulations, Coach Beck… Mr. Beck… Dennis! I saw a picture of you on social media and was stunned! And then I read that you were retiring from Windwood and I was immediately overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you for being my coach and boss for so many years. I was only a teenager (and then a college student and then a graduate student) but I learned so many important life lessons working at Windwood. I truly believe that I am a better person and professional because I learned from and worked alongside you. If the concert of the century comes to town, you better be first in line for tickets! I hope your upcoming summers at the lake are long and relaxing. Windwood won’t be the same without you!

Best,

Smidl 😊

Thank you Dennis! You are loved! 🌸 The Denison/Wiseman Families

I can’t even begin to recount all of the memories I have from growing up at Windwood, always under your very watchful eye, but it’s safe to say that those are the highlight reel of my childhood. From screaming my lungs off during swim lessons, to endless privates (and your patience with my horrifying breaststroke), to my very first professional reviews (which remain the toughest I have faced), I learned so much from you that has stuck with me well into adulthood. In fact, I still can’t relax at the pool without wanting to grab a whistle, shout walk, and teach those guards how to properly execute a changeover. While I hope you enjoy every minute of your retirement, as it is absolutely well earned, there will never be another Mr Beck and Windwood will never be the same without you.

Windwood is such a substantial part of my summer memories, from when I was a young kid and into young adulthood as a lifeguard for 7 summers. Windwood would not be the safe, clean and special place it is without you, Dennis! You put so much time and energy into making Windwood great and instilling such a strong work ethic in us lifeguards. You had high expectations and we worked hard to meet them, while also having countless laughs along the way. I am beyond grateful for the memorable summers I had at Windwood and for having you as my first boss. You helped shape so many of us into strong swimmers but more importantly into dedicated hard workers that aren’t afraid to do the dirty work (hello trash can cleaning night). Any former Windwood guard knows that you can’t sit at another pool the same after working for Dennis. Truly your mark on Windwood is immeasurable and it won’t be the same without you. Your impact on generations of swimmers and lifeguards is profound. A huge heartfelt thank you for your dedication to Windwood over the years, Dennis! Enjoy retirement, you’ve certainly earned it!

Thank you Dennis for all the years of excellent management! We have enjoyed getting to know you and your team over the past 6 years. Enjoy the lake life and retirement!
