Artist Spotlight: Drew Bardana
One of the things that set Kudoboard apart is the amazing custom artwork you can choose as your board background. Instead of a mass-produced greeting card or generic group ecard, Kudoboard allows you to make a board that fits the personality of the recipient.
Each week Kudoboard adds brand new custom backgrounds designed by talented and experienced artists, creating unique options for every taste and occasion. We’re incredibly proud of our artists, and today we’d like to spotlight one of our premier designers, Drew.
Drew is an illustrator from Portland, Oregon, and he specializes in bold colors and shapes. His work is popular in magazines, children’s books, and advertisements, as it’s so eye-catching and happy. You’re about to fall in love with his use of texture and pops of color in his illustrations.
His love of art began young when he practiced recreating comics and Pokémon cards. He graduated from Pacific Northwest College of Art with a BFA in Illustration and Design.
One of my favorite illustrations I’ve created with Kudoboard is this cat in a field of wildflowers. It’s so fun to get lost in all the little details. With the cold months ahead and more time inside, it’s nice to rest your eyes on this peaceful moment.
Another of my favorites is a personal illustration I made to celebrate Halloween. I drew a shy little ghost making the rounds through the neighborhood, trick-or-treating on Halloween.
Drew’s advice for aspiring artists is all about patience.
Patience is key. Developing art skills, a portfolio, a clientbase – it’s all an uphill climb and it doesn’t come together all at once. Continue to make and make and make. Enjoy each step of the process.
When he’s not making art, Drew can be found in the kitchen making delicious food. He also loves to hike with his dogs, Chicharron, Lillie, and George.
Happy Inktober!
